DAY FOUR

Today was St. George, Utah and Las Vegas, Nevada. I started with Bob Maehre who has the churches in St. George and Cedar City. This is an area with a Mormon population between 60% - 70%. The church in Cedar City has tripled in membership over the past three years and he attributes that growth to the spirit of the members who are loving and supportive to all who come. He told me that the majority of his interests come from 3ABN. The St. George Church has been meeting in a rented store front that is used primarily by the New Covenant Christian Center.  But now they have purchased a barn.  Yes, a barn to be transformed into a church.  But take a look at this barn!  It sits in a fabulous location amongst gorgeous new homes and near the new airport. The church is excited about their new project and this is an effort that is drawing the church together in an exciting, uniting project.  I see great things in the future for this district.

"No Admittance!"
The first two pictures here are of the Mormon temple in St. George, which is just a block from their present rented store front facility. Notice the little boy coming back down the stairs having discovered that the front door has no door knob. You have to be let in. Behold I stand at the door and knock...and knock...and knock...

Temporary Rented Facility for St. George.

Here is Pr. Bob in front of the "Barn".  They'll remove the RV door and convert the horse stalls into SS rooms.  This is a great facility.

Information center at the Mt. View church in Las Vegas. Take a good look Napa!  We could do this too.

Here's Pr. Denny Krause.  We had a really great visit.  His emphasis for the church is contact with the community.  They put special emphasis on the area immediately around the church with multiple contacts.  Mt. View is a very high tech church.  They have separate offices now across the street and have a marvelous setup that most of us will never be able to put together.  But these are just tools to help them do what we all can do, which is to meet the needs of the people in our community.  They have multiple services and they are both quite contemporary.  I was surprised to learn that the vast majority of his new members come via 3ABN as well.  There is a real story there that I don't have time to tell here, but I'll fill it in with the book.  Members are heavily involved in reaching out to visitors and to the community.

The very pleasant and helpful office staff.

This is a beautiful church, but they were really cramped for work space until they moved the offices across the street.

So, tomorrow it will be Barstow and then on to Loma Linda where I'll speak at the Filipino Church tomorrow night and attend Azure Hills on Sabbath.

It's getting hot!  Very HOT!

Hey Marvin, I don't know if it is possible or not but it would be fun if you had a map that could be updated every so often to show all your meanderings, sort of like Abraham's journey. Just a suggestion, I know you have a very busy schedule. Ride safe!
